Wilderness Trails - Lewa Downs is situated in the wildlife-rich eastern corner of the Lewa conservancy is the Craig family home in Isiolo Kenya. At the Wilderness Trails guests have been entertained in luxury for the past 30 years. Wilderness Trails is one of Kenya’s original ranches, Lewa downs has been the Craig family home since 1924 when the Craig grandparents came from England and began raising cattle here. Now incorporated in the Lewa wildlife conservancy, which includes Anna Merz's highly respected Ngare Sergoi rhino sanctuary and the Ngare Ndare forest, the area is committed to the conservation of the extremely diverse indigenous wildlife and habitat, as well as benefiting the local community by providing employment, schools and clinics. Set in stunning arid landscape wilderness trails is an oasis of comfort and tranquility.

Room décor

The wonderfully decorated cottages, featuring fireplaces and verandas and is the home of will and Emma Craig. The large sitting and dining room is eclectically decorated in true country house style. a highly polished games table, generous vases of brightly coloured flowers from the gardens, a vast coffee table, seriously comfy chairs

Room amenities
They have private bath and a central rondavel-style living room with fireplace. 2 are free standing. The comfortable beds are covered with mosquito nets. All rooms have stylish wooden furniture that is made on the estate.

Special feature
One of Kenya’s early ranches, Lewa downs, has been home to the Craig family since they moved from England and began raising cattle in 1924. Lewa Downs is one of very few private ranches in the world where you can see such a remarkable variety of wildlife and their interaction with each other in their natural habitat.

Food and beverage facilities
Guests can relax by the fire in will and lemma’s cozy sitting room and share meals around a long banquet table in the open-air dining room. the delicious meals are made entirely from the freshest of produce, all grown on the estate and are often taken alfresco in a pretty loggia with a twig roof covered in vines.

The salt-water pool is refreshing, the stables are full of horses for guests to ride, and the clay tennis court comes equipped with both rackets and balls.
A professional guiding team leads guests on customized daily safaris and educates them about flora, fauna, animal behavior, conservation, Lewa history, and more.
Wilderness trails is an all inclusive safari experience room, full board, wine/beer, all activities.
