Lake Victoria is the largest lake in Africa and the third largest fresh water lake in the World, supports the livelihood of about 30 million people and is shared by three countries namely Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, the largest part being in Uganda. Lake Victoria covers a total area of 68,800 sq. and with a maximum depth of 80 m it is relatively shallow, its northern side touches the Equator. Lake Victoria is commercially important for the following activities Fishing, generation of hydropower, an important source of water the feeds the Nile,bird watching.
