Samburu National Reserve is situated north of the capital city of Nairobi above the Equator. Here the River Ewaso Nyiro supports a wide variety of game among them elephant, buffalo, cheetah leopard, lion, reticulated giraffe, oryx and the long necked gerenuk also known as “giraffe necked antelope” Very useful for browsing the high bushes. The grevy's zebra found here differs from the common zebra due to its wider stripes that hangs rather than those of its kin whose stripes go all the way to the belly. The park is popular for the 3 cats namely cheetah, leopard and the lion.samburu is also home to birds about 365 species.
3 Days Safari Samburu National Reserve
Day 1: Nairobi - Samburu National Game Reserve Pick up from your hotel at 0730 hrs and passing the majestic Mt. Kenya en route to the open savannah of Samburu Game Reserve arriving in good time for lunch at a lodge. Here we find of palms and woodland by the Ewaso Nyiro River which provides water for the animals and some relief from the equatorial sun. Late afternoon game drives followed by dinner and overnight stay at Samburu Serena Safari Lodge or Similar
Day 2: Samburu National Game Reserve Full day in Samburu enjoying morning and afternoon game drive, a visit to the Samburu villages is optional. Meals and overnight at Samburu Serena lodge or Similar.
The Highlights of Samburu Natinal Game Reserve The highlights of Samburu Game Reserve is the spectacular scenic beauty, rivers and forests and the local people have a rich and colourful cultural heritage. The reserve has numerous permanent springs and a wealth of wildlife which includes leopard, hippo, elephant, lion, reticulated giraffe, grevy’s zebra and crocodile in the Ewaso Nyiro River. Over 365 species of birds have been identified in the sanctuaries.
Day 3: Samburu - Nairobi;
Early morning game viewing drives before breakfast depart for Nairobi arriving in the afternoon where the tour ends.
