ZANZIBAR ISLAND is some 40 kms from Tanzania mainland lies the mystical island of Zanzibar which boasts of vast kilometers of golden beaches. Zanzibar, which is also the name of the capital of this tropical paradise, is located on the western shores of the island; it was the ancient port of the Sultans of Oman in the 19th century. This city is a medina: the only of its kind south of the Equator. Carved doors and balconies decorate the houses, which are made of coral stone. Inland, the island is a Garden of Eden offering the most exquisite tropical species.

Day 1
On arrival at the airport or harbour , you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Stone Town. Overnight at the hotel on Bed & Breakfast basis

 

Day 2
After breakfast depart for a guided tour of Stone Town covering the Kelele square, Tip Tip House, Former slave Market site, Livingstone House, the old dhow harbor and the Old Arab Fort. Lunch at a local restaurant. 1500hrs, boat trip to Prison Island, the former prison for slaves and quarantine station for Zanzibar, is an absolute worthwhile experience. Here you will also experience giant tortoises in the wild. Return to the hotel for
overnight.

 

Day 3
After breakfast transfer to Mangapwani village via Maruhubi Palace ruins. Visit of the slave caves and chambers. Lunch at Mangapwani Serena Restaurant. The restaurant is located on the outskirts of Zanzibar stone town. The Serena Mangapwani Restaurant and Watersports Centre is a great destination for those looking for somewhere special. Visitors to Mangapwani are offered a fresh seafood barbeque cooked to perfection by Serena’s expert team of chefs. The atmosphere is informal and friendly and the restaurant comprises a series of traditional makuti bandas, all set into a lush hillside overlooking an idyllic beach. Guests can also enjoy fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, catamaran rides and other pleasant distractions at the well-equipped watersports centre. Late in the afternoon, drive back to stone town. Overnight at the hotel in Stone town.

 

Day 4
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight back home.

CHUMBE ISLAND
Chumbe Island with its prominent light-house is the first Marine and Coral Reserve Park in Tanzania. On this uninhabited island you can snorkel through one of the most spectacular Coral gardens to be found anywhere in the world. Beside the pristine Coral - rag the island is also offering accommodation in one of their unique eco - bungalows for spending your holiday by enjoying the most breathtaking view of the vegetation surrounded by the ocean around and learning more about Zanzibari natural heritage.
