Kakamega Forest National Reserve is a walk through park for bird and butterfly watchers, this is the place of choice for you. Being such a food rich reserve habitat, the park supports over 300 bird species, over 350 species of trees, 27 species of snakes… our snakes are friendly given the wet nature of the forest throughout the year... no history of snake bites since the park started 20 years ago. The forest is also home to over 400 species of butterflies (about 45% of all recorded butterflies in Kenya), reptiles, mollusks and 7 primate species

6 Days Kakamega Forest Ecotour DAY 1 NAIROBI - NAKURU
Depart from Nairobi soon after breakfast drive experience the spectacular Great East African Rift Valley, stop at view point to enjoy the breath taking scenery. Onwards to Lake Nakuru National Park for game drive, famous for its millions of flamingos and other birds and animals. It is also famous for its black and white rhinos. Dinner and overnight at Nakuru.
DAY 2 NAKURU-KISUMU Town Leave Nakuru after breakfast onwards to Kericho, the land of tea plantations. Experience awalk through the plantation, and probably pay a visit to on of the tea factories then drive via Lwanda Magere (Luo warrior) who was killed by Kipsigis warrior during their war, died, and turned into a stone some centuries back. Then continue to Kisumu for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3 KISUMU-KAKAMEGA RAIN FOREST After an early breakfast, drive to Kaloka beach, boat ride takes you to Ndere Island go back in time as you reminiscence their times. (the meeting place where Luo great prophets met). Game watching takes you in search of largest crocodiles, swamp antelopesand birds. Row your boat back to Kaloka beach and depart to Kisumu arriving in time for lunch . After lunch, drive to Kakamega forest and explore the forest. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 4 KAKAMEGA- SAIWA SWAMP NATIONAL PARK After breakfast, take a walk through the forest.Spot the majestic black and white colobus monkey alongside the flying squirrels,blue monkey and potto (worlds slowest mammal) are among the attractions. Forest bucks,duikers and dikdik are also found as are the endangered Turner'seremomela,charpin'sflycatcher and the voice mimicking African grey parrot. You will then drive via Webuye to Kitale arriving in time for lunch. Then proceed to Saiwa Swamp National Park for game walk in search of birds and animals such as the Sitatunga antelope, monkeys etc. Please note that because of the size of this park, vehicles are not allowed to enter and this is the reason while you get a game walk and not a game drive. Drive back to Kitale or to Mt. Elgon for dinner and overnight.
DAY 5 MT. ELGON NATIONAL PARK Drive to the park gate then proceed for game walk / drive. Unique feature of the mountain are the lava tubes caves,some over 60 metres wide and only caves in the world frequented by elephants and other animals to dig salt. Visit the caves Makingeny, Chepnyali, Ngwarisha and Kitum (the place for ceremonies ) 200m into the mountain. This unspoilt game reserve is the home of about 300 elephants, buffalos, leopard, giant forest hog, colobus monkeys etc.
DAY 6 MT. ELGON - NAIROBI
